Hey guys, Harmony here :)

I've decided to run as vice captain for the 2023/24 season, as I have watched this club develop on and off the pitch for the past 2 years and want to continue to be a part of all of your rugby journeys in the future. When I started at UCLWRC, I had never played rugby before, but I quickly fell in love and found a passion that I never knew I had (smashing people for fun ;)). And now I want to be able to help others start/continue their rugby journey amongst a group of amazing people. I have experience captaining a team to regional level and so know the true responsibilities that come with such an important role, such as good comms both on the pitch and behind the scenes, positivity, good time management and being a team player to name a few. I will strive to create an environment where you all feel supported but also pushed to ensure you can reach your upmost potential. Being a part of committee as your volunteering sec this past year has given me an insight into the demands of this role. For example booking pitches and refs, and communicating with both the union and opposing teams to guarantee game time. I believe my reliability, optimism and approachability makes me the perfect candidate for the role of vice captain and hope that you'll vote for me!

Lots of tackles, Harmony xoxo

Zainab Syed

Hi I’m Zainab and I’m running to be next year’s Vice Captain! Being part of this club and the team has been one of the important and enjoyable experiences of my university life so far. I have a deep love and respect for all of our members, Wood Green (begrudgingly), and all things rugby. This year I have thoroughly enjoyed being a senior member of the team, being able to reflect and build on my experiences playing last year to become a stronger, more dependable player and teammate. It has been very important to me that members, new and returning, feel supported, encouraged and looked after.

I believe that I would be a strong Vice Captain as I am versatile, determined and well organised. Throughout the season I have stepped up to go through extra drills, offer help, advice and support whenever it was needed. I’m reliably skilled and have a strong knowledge of the game and the role of a forward. I’m able to give advice on a variety of positions, with the flexibility and experience of having played front row, second row, flanker and number 8. One of my biggest goals I hope to achieve as Vice Captain is to lead and support the forwards to be at their strongest and most dangerous. I strongly believe that if I were to get this role, I will bring confidence to the team through my leadership. I will also work hard alongside the Captain to maintain our welcoming environment and fiercely formidable team. It would be my pleasure to learn from everyone, support and lead as Vice Captain.
