For me, rugby has formed an integral part of my UCL experience thus far. As essentially a complete novice to the sport, I have felt warmly welcomed across all sides of the society, and what started out as an impromptu decision to try out something that I've always really wanted to do has grown into a genuine love for the sport and a real wish to improve (both when on the pitch and when chopping pints). I feel like joining the rugby committee would be a really full circle moment for me.

At my former school, I was wellbeing officer in the Sixth Form Union, in which role I successfully set up a student support service in which younger years were able to go to students in the sixth form for advice and support, essentially creating a mentor system. This, alongside having taught Year 5 children maths and latin in the past, and my participation within a diversity and inclusion steering group at school (which led to my school vastly improving their sex education curriculum), I feel makes me more than qualified for this role.

For me, especially having come from a privileged background, giving back and lifting others up, especially lifting other men up, has always felt essential to my approach to life, and through charities like Oddballs or Arts for All I cannot think of a better way of doing that.

Can dedicate the time I've saved on my increased chopping speed to the committee.
