Hello, I am Jonny, and I will be running for treasurer for the robotics society, not only for the financial function of the society, but to also revive the society, alongside the president nominee, Ramneet Bains. Over the past year, we can agree that the society has been sadly neglected, with not a single glimpse of activity, asides from the help bots in the abandoned Discord. Along with her, we'll promise to arrange activities such as speaker events, workshops and potentially also participate competitively in the Unibots UK, and establish a place in UCL where robotics enthusiasts can collaborate and meet up!

I am currently part of the UCL Racing team, UCL Rocket, not only as an engineer, but also taking up a role in the team’s logistics and finance, arranging visas and flights to the USA for their main competition, and bookkeeping general expenses, ensuring they are within our current budget. I can utilise the knowledge I learnt and developed through this time and apply it to the society, monitoring expenses for the numerous potential activities we'll have in store.

Robotics is an extremely fun field to students (not just STEM) and is a vital topic in today’s world, especially with big technologies of AI, and medical prosthetics, to name a few. It would be a shame for fellow students to not have the chanceto explore this evolving field and its applications, through developing their knowledge around the subject and honing their practical skills as well.
