Hello guys! I'm currently the First-year rep for the society and applying to be the welfare officer as it adheres to my passion of making everyone feel welcome

During university and my latter years of sixth form, I've been always a point of help. People often came to me asking for advice with regards to many things, from very serious matters to just there day has been as they see me as a safe person to express their issues too and feel comfortable talking to, even if I don't have any particular knowledge (one person even talked about his problems in trying to get married).

A lot of the traits of a welfare officer I've developed in tutoring and mentoring. I had been a tutor for the last 2 years and my experience with SEND students allowed me to secure a role as a professional SEN tutor where I work with kids who are outside the traditional education system. Whether the child is unique or not, making sure a child feels safe, comfortable and welcomed is a critical part of anyone who works with children, hence I've gathered great experience in understanding whether someone is comfortable in a group.

Already having been a First-year Rep, I know how the society runs and have been involved in organising the insightful events that the quant society has delivered. I'm determined to push that further, ensuring even more people get involved in the society events without feeling that they don't fit in.
