Hi all! You may already know me but I'm a 2nd year Mechanical Engineering student and current president of UCL Parkour. I intend to carry on presiding over the Club and its committee for the next academic year!
A few achievements myself and my committee have made this year:
- More than doubled membership numbers (through tasters, freshers fair...), providing key finance to the club alongside our many grant applications
- Halloween special
- Planned and run 2 day trips to Brighton
- Secured Rainbow Laces for all members as part of a campaign for Pride in Sport
- Increased bouldering sessions upon demand and purchased chalk and bags on behalf of the club
- UCL Parkour's first sports night!
- Merch!
Current plans in motion (subsidised with funding secured from our increased membership and grants):
- Inter-society ball (incl. Pole, Calisthenics, Gymnastics...) next term
- Term 3 collab with UCL Karate Club to finally complete our ninja training
- International trip to Madrid to experience Parkour outside of the country
- Additional domestic trips (e.g. to Bristol) in Summer
- Additional Summer merch (t-shirts) line
Plans for next year:
- More sports nights!
- More trips, events and collabs. I chose to expand the committee for next year so 2 social secretaries will be on hand to help plan these
- Anything else our amazing community of members wish for
I definitely want to see new faces on the committee next year, but would still love to be a part of of overseeing this club!
Hello, my name is Ismail and I’m a first year Psychology student!
I have only been doing parkour since joining the university in October but since then, I have not only pulled off some of my most physically impressive moves, but I have also made some of my fondest memories in that time with all the members of the society.
Ever since joining the Parkour society, I have been met with nothing but kindness and encouragement from all members, regardless of whether they are a veteran traceur or whether they had started out at the same time as I did.
Parkour, both as the sport and as the community of members, has helped improve not only my physical strength but also my mental strength and I would only hope to help make this possible for everyone who joins the club next year.
With both Parkour and social matters, the community is one which I feel immensely proud to be a part of and should I be president next year, my aim is to not only maintain this well-established history of the club and sense of community between everyone, but to continue to expand and grow the society to new hights, with more parkour activities/ trips (and more social activities after too!).
