Katrina Shi

Hii guys! My name is Katrina Shi, and I am currently a second-year Education Studies Student. I’m running to be your next Event Officer of UCL K-pop society.

I have always had a great passion for brainstorming and organising a variety of fun activities. I have been the Head of Event Committee since secondary school and organised countless events with my team. For example, graduation ceremonies, summer ball, the annual color run, etc., so I’m confident in my communication and organization skills.

It's no exaggeration to say that K-pop is a huge part of my life. BTS, Stray Kids, and ATEEZ are my favorite boy groups currently. During these two years in UCL K-pop society, I actively participated in various activities (weekly dance class, rpd, showcase, covers, etc.), so I have a clear idea of how the whole society runs and the responsibility of the Event Officer, which is a crucial position in ensuring the vibe of the whole society. If elected, in addition to continuing the popular events, I will make some improvements in the socialising activities, in order to give more people, especially freshers, a sense of belonging in the K-pop soc family.

-      Organising networking events for specific K-pop groups’ fans at the start of the new academic year. (e.g., ARMY night, STAY night…)

-      More inter-uni events

I understand the importance of teamwork and communication. I’m ready to dedicate myself to being a part of the committee in UCL K-pop society next year! Pls vote for me

April Macrohon

Hi everyone! I'm April!

2017 was the year I got into Kpop and uuuuuhh… it’s safe to say I haven’t looked back since (we all know that once you fall into the K-pop hole, the chance of you getting out is next to zero haha)!

The music and the people I have met because of K-pop and this society in particular have brought me so much happiness, so I’d love the opportunity to experience being behind the scenes and shaping what events the society puts on by becoming one of the Events Officers.

If I were to step into this role, I’d like to help the society continue to put on successful events such as RPDs and the infamous Running Man social. However, I’d also love to draw from previous years and put on some speed friending events for new and existing members to get to know each other to foster the already large sense of community and acceptance in the society. In addition, some new events I’d love for us to do are a K-pop-themed scavenger hunt or quiz nights!

On top of this, I’m a really friendly and approachable person who loves feedback, so I’d be very open to any suggestions or improvements for events. I am also no stranger to working within a team to plan, organise and carry out events (I love crossing things off an aesthetic list). All of this means that I’ll succeed at collaborating with the other Events Officer to put on amazing events all year round.

I’d love to spend my last year at UCL Dancing The Night Away with you all; I hope we’ll have an Aju Nice time!! ;)

Ingrid Lam

Hai guys it’s your current Events Officer Ingrid :33 this year has been challenging, but it’s been so so fun to be able to put on events for you guys!! I hope you enjoyed the long-waited return of Running Man this year, as well as our Halloween special complete with the Kpop-themed escape room which I used my last brain cells on ?. I still have ideas up my sleeve, but it has been difficult executing due to time constraints and other committee member’s availability, but next year there will be two Events Officers! Although we did not hold as many events as I would have liked, I hope you agree that quality > quantity, and with the addition of the second Events Officer, that we can introduce quantity too!!

Why should you vote for me :3

  • I’ve experienced first hand what this role needs and what improvements need to be made (i.e the introduction of the second Events Officer)
  • I’ve contributed and collaborated with this year’s committee successfully and managed to host major events e.g Running Man whilst still catering to everyone else’s schedules
  • I am fully aware of everyone else’s roles and what needs to be done and when, and can give clear instructions and updates to the committee when needed :3

Why am I running again:

  • I can’t escape kpop society at this point lol
  • I still have more ideas
  • Being on committee has been one of the most wholesome things this year :3
Ivan Lai

I'm running to be the Events Officer for two reasons: I love the satisfaction of planning, coordinating and organising an event and seeing it come to life, and more importantly because I love k-pop soc :) the events this year have been so amazing and many of my best memories in UCL have been from the events organised by the society so I hope to get the opportunity to continue this amazing tradition of running fun, accessible and inclusive events for all. The events in k-pop soc have provided me with a safe space to meet lots of lovely new people and make great memories, so I know what a 'good' event entails and how to make it work. As the former events officer back in my high school dance society, I can understand and appreciate the complexity of coordinating different people/things and meticulous planning that goes behind a successful event, and hope to channel this experience for k-pop soc in the upcoming year.

William Leem

I am from Korea but lived more than half of my life outside Korea (Shanghai, HongKong and London). Since my route is from Korea, I love listening and vibing to Kpop. As a kid in Korea, I used to go Karaoke everyday after school with my friends and sing BingBang and 2NE1. Other than Kpop, I like to watch Korean movies, dramas, youtube channels and tv shows.

I am a very shy person in general and I am a horrible dancer but I like talking to people with similar interest and making them feel happy from what I can do is my key determination for taking this role. I used to organise some Korean games and activities for my friends from other countries and I enjoyed it when they were doing something from our culture. I can speak Korean, English and Chinese (with little bit of Cantonese) and I will always be willing to listen to other people's opinions.
