Helena M Cuart Ballester

I am standing for volunteering officer because I want to members interested and involved in activities that are related to the society and to the values that UNICEF aligns itself to. I want to see through some of the projects we have been working on with volunteering until now, including those with the Euston food bank and ACAA. Moreover, I want to create a volunteering mentorship within the society, where members can communicate their volunteering desires and we can guide them to projects and organisations suited most to their own personal needs. This way on top of having group volunteering activities, members feel like they can find opportunities that align most with their own values, skills, and time.

I strongly believe that sometimes the best help you can give is your time and dedication, I volunteer and want for all members to experience how rewarding it can be and want to make that experience possible. Moreover, I want everything to run as smoothly as possible and for people to have the opportunity to commit for small periods of time so that they can still do everything they need to get done (being a student is not easy). Most importantly, I want to make volunteering feel fun and engaging, where you can develop skills as well as help people.

Jobenjeet Singh Mehroke

My name is Jobenjeet Mehroke, and I am proud to be standing for the role of ‘Volunteering Officer’ for our society. As someone who has participated in various volunteering opportunities internally and externally, I am confident that my experience and skill set is ideally suited for this role. I hope to bring this experience to help build on our network of volunteer organisations and hope to create further links to offer greater opportunities for our members to contribute too. As a member of many volunteering organisations, I hope to use those connections to help bring them into our wider network and organise further opportunities from which our members can benefit.

As a part of my degree, I am academically tested in different capacities, including planning and executing presentations, working under tight schedules, and organising projects. I hope to bring these skills into the role of Volunteering Officer and use them to help organise and expand volunteering opportunities in conjunction with the leadership team to hopefully build and expand our society and the opportunities that are offered.

Ultimately, as someone who cares deeply about volunteering and has felt the enriching rewards, I hope to help as a Volunteering Officer and as a part of the leadership team to develop even better methods to provide our members with seamless access to volunteering adjacent to their needs and their schedule.
