The key criteria for a welfare officer is someone who is committed, caring and able to balance work and fun. I think that I showcase the first and last quality through my consistent appearance at practice and games. Even though I have a habit of going to Ministry every Tuesday and only leave the club when I'm forced to, I always find myself at practice the next day, ready for a day of practice (something that cannot be said for many of the A teamers this season). I think this is an impressive feat as despite pursuing these past times I am able to stay on top of the school work of what many would describe as a strenuous law degree.
Moreover, I feel the fact that I consistently show up to not only practices and games but also social events hosted by the society makes me well-suited for the role as it means that I am a familiar face that is always around and available for people to talk to. I say this because while at practices we are normally separated by A or C team, through the social events such as the boat ball I have had the opportunity to connect with all members of the ice club.
Since joining the club I have found that ice club is somewhere where I can joke around and have fun with friends, letting go of whatever problems I may be facing for the few hours I am on ice and I hope that this sentiment is something that I can pass on to my fellow teammates. Having said that, I implore you to vote for me as your welfare officer.

Having joined as a total novice, I know it can be tricky finding confidence and motivation to get involved with something new.
As welfare officer I would just want to make sure everyone feels equally confident of their place within the club and happy to raise any concerns etc
(without wanting to sound too wet) I know the value of having someone in the club you can just have a chat with, make sure everything's going well because it can be overwhelming at times.
there's not a lot to it but it's pretty vital to having a team that functions as...a team.
(plus my connections in the SU might be able to wrangle ice club a whole £10 of actual funding for free food and such. so watch out for that)
thanks ig x
