Ahaan Bhandari

Hey, I’m Ahaan, the current First Year Executive at Guild and I’m running for the position of Treasurer.

My objective is straightforward – Making Guild Bigger and Better.

My relevant experiences include the following:

  • Heading a United Nations Hub, organising and planning 20+ events across 5 cities and 500+ participants
  • Conducting research under a renowned economist on Global Climate Supply Chains
  • Interning at a local financial brokerage firm, facilitating deals ranging up to £25,000
  • Consulting clients on their strategic growth at London Strategic Consulting

As a theatre kid, I’m highly social and value networking and maintaining relationships. As your next Treasurer, I’ll ensure to communicate across different divisions and work effortlessly. As the largest society at UCL, I strongly believe there’s still immense scope for growth and I am thrilled to be a part of it!

Ekaterina R Iijima

Hello everyone! I am Ekaterina, studying Biological Sciences and I am nominating myself to be the Guild Treasurer position.

What I will bring to this role:

  1. Communication: Through my experience of being the first year representative of my course I have actively communicated with both my peers and the staff to raise concerns and issues in regards to the course to improve student satisfaction.
  2. Leadership & Organisation: As the secretary of a society at UCL, I worked closely with the president and I experienced first hand the importance of being proactively involved in assisting members with various tasks and how maintaining a strong committee structure is crucial. Moreover, having led projects and teams in the past, these experiences has given me transferable skills such as effective team-management and decision making.

What I hope to do if I get elected:

I will ensure to safeguard and manage the societies finances, as well as setting up appropriate systems for book keeping.

I also believe that at the core of any society is the people which is why I would like to use the position as Treasurer to strengthen the relationship within the society by encouraging people from all different academic fields to participate by introducing more events and socials.

I hope as the Treasurer I can contribute to the Guild society though managing expenses and bringing more affordable events to give all students the equal opportunity to develop their skills and career.

Caterina Devenuto

Since the start of the academic year I have been working as the Finance executive - a very fulfilling experience I whole heartedly wish to continue next academic year as Treasurer. With the Treasurer we were managing the society's funds - a role which is essential to ensure that only the best quality of events are brought to Guild's members!

I strongly valued forming trusting relationships with the other divisions within Guild, especially the Sponsorship division. We were able to ensure that our Sponsors' money was put in good use and that the Student Union was aware of our ties with these top ranking firms across the financial industries. If elected, I will definitely be able draw on this experience to ensure that the society's organisation keeps running smoothly as I am fully aware of the Student Union's protocols and procedures.

As a Finance executive I engaged as much as possible with the 5,000 members of the society: whether it was during the Society's fair during Welcome week, or while organising the First Year Rep application processes which I ran with the Treasurer. As a biochemistry student, I often got asked: how can I also transition from a STEM degree to a finance/business related career? My numerous experiences in successfully applying to finance summer and spring internships make me a good point of reference for anyone wanting to start figuring out if a career in finance would be a good fit, as well as all the practicalities, tips and tricks of applying!

Haoyu Wang

Hi!

I am Haoyu, a first year BSc Economics Student. Being the treasurer of the UCL Gov&Pol society, studying for a CIMA, being proficient in Quickbooks accounting and maintained leadership positions in other UCL societies, I believe I have the relevant experience and ability to thrive in this position.

As treasurer, I will push for the following agenda:

  • To Consolidate Funds and promote responsible spending through a centralised accounting approach. I will also seek additional funding venues such as sponsorships and organising exclusive events to achieve a balanced budget
  • To Unite Departments and smoothen the budget approval system within the society to make it easier to get things done. This will broaden the society's membership base, supporting positive cash flow and long term growth
  • To Smoothen Communication and reduce frictions within the society. This will help us identify the most efficient/appropriate way of allocating our funds, reducing waste and maximise our ability to pursue other objectives
  • To Increase Accessibility by subsidising those in need. Though this is conditional on a strong budget position, I am optimistic in making this a reality with the support of my other policies.

I promise to bring positive impact to the society through a responsible and proactive approach to maximise efficiency, expanding and establishing the society as the de facto political discourse platform at UCL.
