If you’re reading this, you already know that, in a world full of injustices , altruism and humanitarian work are crucial in promoting egalitarian attitudes in all arenas of life. Friends of MSF allows us to promote this dream of health equity . As your president, I would strive to encourage this altruistic outlook among our student populace and grow the club into a thriving community with an even greater capacity to effectuate change.
I would aim to accomplish this lofty goal in these two ways.
The most immediate measure would be to put a greater focus on social media and social engagement. I would ensure that there is a dedicated social media/outreach officer who would have the mandate to spread awareness through both orthodox and unorthodox means. In my mind, this would manifest in weekly MSF morning posts on social media and more fundraising events. Most importantly, I would be interested in hearing your ideas. If this club is to be a community, everyone has a voice that carries weight.
I would develop stronger links with other branches of Friends of MSF. We have the branches at Kings, Imperial and Queen Mary’s that share the same aims as us. This compatibility would be facilitative in the creation of joint events, joint guest speakers and even large-scale, social events (with greater funding). As your interim president, I’ve started a dialogue with Friends of MSF Imperial.
