Andrew Wu

The past year has been one of change and evolution for the fencing club, with significant advances in areas such as finances and overall resources. But all change must be built on a foundation of stability. As someone who has benefitted greatly from the club, whether it be a sense of belonging or the opportunity to represent UCL in competitions, I wish for nothing more than to help continue this positive trajectory. As secretary, my goal would be to contribute to the efficient administration of the club, and thus provide a basis for further improvements.

What I believe I can bring to the committee:

  • Reliability: I will complete any task delegated to me by the committee to a high standard, which will contribute to a system that is smooth and low in conflict
  • Dedication: I have a 100% attendance rate as a member of the men's second team, a sense of duty which I will bring to my term in office
  • Proactivity: I aim not only to help address those issues brought before the committee, but to actively evaluate the club so that it may be consistently improved

None of this is groundbreaking or revolutionary; I firmly believe that it is incremental changes achieved through honest work, rather than grand promises, that will bring the best fencing experience to our members, and I am eager to apply this principle in service of the club that is so dear to me.
