DanceSoc makes me feel alive after an exhausting day of classes and the community provides me with some much-needed sanity! I want to do is give back to this society by being part of the BTS and making future experiences absolutely epic, therefore, I am submitting my nomination for Social Secretary.
I often feel like I don't really meet the DanceSoc community outside of class and interact with people from other classes :(
With DanceSoc having 1500 members, it should be nothing but fun, full of movement and interactive!
As SocialSec, you can expect:
- FANTASTIC EVENTS! Events that are beyond drinks but full of creating relationships are what I aim for. Building a community that isn't only dance-specific is something I'd love to introduce. Picnics, game nights, and mini trips around the city are all on the list!
- PRE-PARTY SOCIALS! Go as a team to UCL nights. Hopefully, I get a table at Phineas before that :D
- TOP NOTCH ORGANISATION! I know socials garner fun and a sense of belonging and as SocialSec I'll ensure all expectations are met.
I love talking to people and am extremely approachable. I aim to reach out to as many groups as I can and try and make all socials as inclusive as possible. No one should ever be missing out on fun and friendships.
Now that I will soon be in my final year, I really want to give back by becoming DanceSoc SocialSec and I will ensure you have the best experience and feel nothing short of being welcome!
Hi I’m Joyce, a first year Biomedical Science student! I believe that social events are a great way to bring people together and create a sense of community. As the Social Secretary, I will organise diverse events for our members. I am excited to collaborate with other members to create memorable experiences that everyone can enjoy.
I have experiences in event management from organising school social events, including a Halloween party that received positive feedback. I planned and coordinated the decorations, food, and activities to ensure that everyone had an enjoyable experience. I have also organised a formal dinner for 300+ students, which involved arranging for catering and seating plan, and coordinating with multiple performers. This experience has equipped me with the skills necessary to execute large-scale events, and I am excited to apply this knowledge to the society.
As the President of the dance team at my old school, I organised a dance show and led team practise, which improved my communication and leadership abilities.
In addition, I enjoy interacting with others. I believe that this quality will enable me to connect with members and make them feel comfortable during events. As Social Secretary, I will strive to create an inclusive environment for all members.
With my experience in event planning and team management, I am confident in my ability to bring exciting and engaging social events to the dance society as the Social Secretary!
I’m Tia, a first year Pharmacology student and I would love to be your social secretary! This year, I have thrown myself into everything possible and after experiencing such amazing support and warm welcome, I want to be able to show next year’s members the love Dance Soc brings but as part of committee.
As far as event planning goes, I have previously organised and led children’s parties which involved consistent communication with the parents and organisational skills. I have also led themed workshops - imagine keeping 34 Encanto-obsessed children happy for 7 hours! I’ve been told I embody an excitable child and mum all in one which allows me to have creative ideas that are executed well.
As your social sec, I would work with the Communications Officer to introduce more open lines of communication between committee and society members using social media so that we can actively provide socials people would like - with the introduction of a TikTok ;) I will continue with the family scheme that was introduced but incorporate more socials behind it - game shows, quizzes and a little dressing up. Collaboration with other arts societies for bigger socials such as theatre trips is on the agenda too.
My main aim is to create safe spaces for people to remember that it is okay to tap into your inner child and forget the stresses that come with university whilst maintaining the wholesome atmosphere :)
Stay stunning xo
ps: I am first aid trained which doesn’t hurt to utilise!
