I believe the social side of the cricket club could definitely be run better with planned events and socials more often. While the playing part of the club is enjoyable, there isn't really a team environment as people rarely hang out outside of training so with planned socials the club would be much closer as a squad. As well as weekly socials I think a tour would be feasible and also incredibly fun and great as a bonding experience for the team prior to the season. I feel like as someone that enjoys a night out as well as a big fan of the game of cricket, I would be well suited to make the cricket club a place in which people are excited to be a part of.

Gurshaan S Sethi

Hi! I’m Gurshaan, and I’ve been a part of the cricket club for the past 3 years and counting. Being an avid cricket fan and player since childhood, I’ve always found solace on the field and UCL Cricket Club has always been a welcoming community. It is my chance to give back to the club that made my transition to university life amazingly smooth and to keep up the welcoming and diverse environment within the club. In the past I’ve been elected as the Volunteering Officer and I’m currently serving as the Club Secretary. With a prior experience within the club committee, I am completely familiar with the functioning of the club from organising regular training sessions and socials, alongside ensuring all members are comfortable in the club environment.
As a Social Secretary, I will ensure:

- Not limiting the social calendar to just Sports Nights and organising more meet-ups and social activities.

- The social environment is more inclusive by organising more club outings, especially during domestic and international cricket matches.

- Putting the interests of all club members and other committee members first before anything else.

- The club is well-represented throughout the university by collaborating and working closely with various other societies to cater to the diverse interest of members.

Tarek Khan

Hi everyone,

I'm running for the role of social secretary with the aim of organising lots of socials next year and expanding the club's outreach and membership. I've really enjoyed my time at UCLCC and would love to contribute by organising inclusive, regular socials. I'd like to continue the usual Wednesday socials, with more organised themes and varying locations, and combine these with other socials such as club dinners, joint socials, and trips to watch matches in the summer.

I hope you will consider voting for me!

The social aspect of a cricket club is of the utmost importance. Being part of a cricket club for the last 10 years I know how cricket can create great moments off the field, as it does on the field. Having attended all socials this year numbers have decreased over time possibly due to a lack of regularity and proper planning. By having weekly or fortnightly planned events I hope to help bring a togetherness to the club. I hope to have more inclusive socials for people who do not drink or enjoy Phineas/Scala.
