Joshua Middlecote

As a member of the society since I joined UCL, the club has played an integral part of my university experience. I’ve grown up playing cricket, I can’t really remember life without being a part of a cricket club, but more important than that, a community. Cricket clubs are communities and at UCL it isn’t any different. As President, I will continue the already well-run winter nets training programme at Lords. I will work with the rest of the committee, especially the Social Secretary, to put on more events to welcome more people into the club. As a sports society, we are in a unique position where we don’t play any matches until the end of the academic year. With this the connections and bonds between members are even much more important to make. This will be one my main things I want to improve, to make members feel more included and to have greater opportunity to meet new people.

Gurshaan S Sethi

Hi! I’m Gurshaan, and I’ve been a part of the cricket club for the past 3 years and counting. Being an avid cricket fan and player since childhood, I’ve always found solace on the field and UCL Cricket Club has always been a welcoming community. It is my chance to give back to the club that made my transition to university life amazingly smooth and to keep up the welcoming and diverse environment within the club. In the past I’ve been elected as the Volunteering Officer and I’m currently serving as the Club Secretary. With a prior experience within the club committee, I am completely familiar with the functioning of the club from organising regular training sessions and socials, alongside ensuring all members are comfortable in the club environment.

As a President, I will ensure:

- All playing levels are equally represented by organising more beginner-friendly sessions alongside more regular training sessions for all levels.

- The social environment is more inclusive by organising more club outings, especially during domestic and international cricket matches.

- Putting the interests of all club members and other committee members first before anything else.

- The club is well-represented throughout the university by collaborating and working closely with various other societies to cater to the diverse interest of members.
