Ginevra Ramella Pollone

Hello, I'm Ginny from Bolt and I'm re-nominating myself for S&V secretary.

In the past few months, I've been working alongside Ana in organising different volunteering activities. In particular, I'm very involved in the Helping Children Discover Cheerleading at UCLA, which they have renewed for the upcoming year. More recently, I completed the Level 2 qualification and I look forward to continuing this project in the next year with the newly gained skillset, both in terms of coaching and handling the different processes from the Union and the school. It would be great to have more volunteers participating so that we could expand this project in other schools and improving its structure. In the past I have also coached rugby to young children, which has I believe makes me well suited for carrying out this commitment as a volunteering project leader.

Moreover, I feel like I am now fond of the tasks required for this role and how to improve certain aspects. In terms of Sponsorship, this year has been very successful but it could be better by updating the sponsors contact list and having a more efficient way to send out the hundreds of emails.

My experience as a S&V secretary and as part of the committee has been great! I really enjoyed playing my part in the growth and success of this society. We have been recently featured in the UCL Volunteering social media, as our project has generated a positive impact. I’d be honoured to fill in this position for another year.

Arabella Beier Liu

I was motivated to run for sponsorship and volunteering secretary after my participation in UCL Academy volunteering this year. What primarily inspired me was the huge sense of achievement and pride felt when the kids were able to do an extension teddy and build a whole sequence from there. I built a connection with the children there and especially those in my stunt group. Hence, this drove me to run for sponsorship & volunteering officer to continue this engagement with UCLA and involve more people from our society in volunteering.

I’m very organised and have good communication skills. As my course’s academic rep this year, I communicated the student’s voice to the department and delivered the department’s feedback back to the students. I also took initiative to organise socials for my cohort so everyone to get to know each other better. Generally, I received very positive feedback as a course rep. Therefore, once I take on this role in cheer, I would like to take initiative and further create more volunteering projects and secure sponsors.

I want to reiterate my passion and dedication to the sport of cheerleading as well as to this society. I would put my effort and time into the role to ensure a better experience, at the same time build a better connection with people in the society. I would be honored if you chose to vote for me and I will not disappoint you. Thank you!

Princess Bisnar

Hi, I’m Princess, a first year Psychology student, currently in Charge! I am running for Sponsorships & Volunteering Officer as not only does volunteering give back to the community with a sense of cheer, it helps us gain new skills and perspectives. I also understand the importance of sponsors in maximising what the club offers.

Volunteering for charities such as Little Village, Brightside and National Autistic Society made me realise how important your time and effort can positively impact others. I was able to communicate with all sorts of people, such as families and teachers, who all had different needs and requests, further requiring me to be organised and detail oriented. Partaking in the club’s UCLA Cheer project was also an insightful experience to help others learn a new sport and improve teamwork.

Sponsors are crucial in maintaining the club with funds so that there are plenty of opportunities for our members to progress. I am comfortable in contacting businesses as being Welfare Officer for the Connect.ed Society meant I gained experience in hosting interviews, budgeting, researching businesses and sending enquiry emails.

If I was selected for this role, I would like to continue the UCLA project and marathon cheer points, and come up with fun fundraising ideas such as karaoke nights, quiz shows and a charity cheer showcase. Regarding sponsors, I would like the club to partner with sponsors that could particularly interest our members.

Thank you for reading! ?
