Alastair Ang

Hi there! I am Alastair, running for President of UCL Buddhist Society this year.

A little more about me first: I have been studying Buddhism for the past decade in Singapore, and was Vice President of a local Buddhist Society. Having benefitted from the weekly meditation and sharing sessions at UCLBS, I hope to give back by serving the Society!

Here are some of my goals if elected as President:

  1. Promote the Dharma: The Buddha's teachings are vast and profound. I will work to organise more sharings and workshops that will help deepen our understanding of the Dharma.

  2. Foster a sense of community: UCLBS is not just a place to practice Buddhism, but also a community with shared common values and goals. I hope to create more opportunities for members to form meaningful and wholesome spiritual friendships.

  3. Engage the wider community: I will lead and plan outreach programmes and events that will help to promote the awareness of Buddhism and its teachings.

  4. Support diversity and inclusivity: I believe that UCLBS should be welcoming and inclusive for all, regardless of our background or beliefs.

In conclusion, I believe that UCLBS is a safe space to promote the Dharma and build spiritual friendships.  As President, I would be committed to working with everyone to help build on this safe space together.

If any of the above resonates with you, I would be grateful if you could lend me your support.

Thank you!
