Artificial Intelligence Society: Treasurer

I am standing for Treasurer because I would like to continue to be part of running this society and I enjoy working with finances and anything to do with Excel. In this way, I think I can really help the society by handling the finances organizing them for transparency and enabling the society to put on events with a clear budget. After all, a society needs money to run, and I would like to help in that way.

I already have experience managing budgets and creating spreadsheets which will prove to be useful.

Since joining the society, I've been captivated by its amazing community of open-minded individuals that wanted to show others the magic of AI. I remember how much I learned from ML workshops, challenges, or talks and how much this has helped shape my career plans. Now, I feel like it’s time for me to pay this knowledge and passion for AI forward to show others what this society truly has to offer.

With my involvement, I aspire to build on the outstanding work accomplished by past committees and put my focus on enhancing the society's outreach to the professional community. I am amazed by the enthusiasm of our talent pool and I believe we can cherish it by facilitating more connections between our society members and esteemed employers such as DeepMind, Google, Microsoft or Cisco. By doing so I hope to make our society even more attractive to new members and provide another reason to remain for our existing ones. 

Furthermore, by increasing our professional outreach and securing new sponsorships we can widen our range of opportunities and further make our events ever more so engaging. This will undoubtedly further increase the appeal of our society and strengthen our community.

Although this won’t be an easy task I am confident that my previous experiences in planning events and securing funding for the largest student-led charity in Warsaw have prepared me well to take on this challenge. I am writing to apply for the position of Treasurer in the AI Society. As a business enthusiast and a dedicated member of the society, I believe I possess the necessary skills and experience to excel in this role.

As an undergraduate student majoring in Economics and Business, I have completed various courses in accounting, asset pricing, private equity, and investment management. I have also participated in business-related extracurricular activities, including the UCL Hatchery and the Asset Management Society. Through these experiences, I have gained a solid understanding of financial management and strategies.

I am constantly eager to learn new things and gain more experience, and, as a final-year student, this would be my first time applying to a society position. Nonetheless, given my experience so far with managing a business within the Hatchery I strongly believe I have the necessary experience of being a treasurer. I can also contribute with advice for upcoming AI entrepreneurs, which I strongly believe are vital for the prosperity of UCL.

If selected for the position of Treasurer, I am committed to using my skills and experience to help the AI Society achieve its financial goals. I will ensure that the society's funds are managed responsibly and transparently and that all financial reports are accurate and up-to-date. I will also work closely with the administrative team to develop investment strategies that align with the society's mission and objectives.

Hello! My name is Veronika, I study Electrical and Electronic engineering, and I have been First Year Rep in the AI Soc this year.  Seeing how the committee operates from the inside, I would love to venture into its financials and make sure that every aspect of it runs smoothly. I really love and appreciate the sense of community and growth that the AI Soc gives to me and, I am sure, to many others. From heated debates on ChatGPT to the passion people talk about their work with, AI Society surely brilliantly fulfills its purpose. Efficient and secure handing of the finances, which I promise to implement as Treasurer, would ensure bigger and cooler events, more chances for people to engage in cool projects, and, obviously, more pizza for everyone.:)
