ShengYing Ng

My name is ShengYing Ng, I am a second year History of Art student, and the current external relations officer of the society. I am standing for the position because I believe in broadening the society's reach to more students as well as to continue hosting leading professionals in the industry who provide valuable information on the fast moving art world.

I believe, presently, with such strides in blockchain and web3.0, more can be done relating to subjects such as art and technology, compliance issues surrounding art (art law), and the developing investment models surrounding art (art finance) aside from present events which are more related to the secondary market and auction houses.

I have interned at an award-winning commercial gallery in Singapore, assisting with operations and curatorial research. Having a strong interest in entrepreneurship and social impact, I have developed strong commercial awareness, crucial to one's understanding of the art market, through working for start-ups and participating in business pitch competitions. Lastly, I have also gained a valuable awareness of the workings and development of disruptive technologies causing major shifts in the existing art world, having previously worked for a crypto analytics company.

I intend on using my current contacts and all of my academic and professional experience to help art business society expand as well as maintain its current quality of events.

Thanks for reading till the end :)

Lola de Winter

Hello! My name is Lola and I would like to be considered for the Treasurer position in the Art Business Society. Currently I am the Deputy Events Officer for the society. This role has allowed me to further engage with the society and build connections with potential speakers from the industry. It’s easy to visit galleries and appreciate art without considering the business industry behind it. The Art Business Society provides insight to this industry, and for this reason I would like to remain a committee member of the society. This endeavour will be rewarding not only because of the amazing opportunities to interact with leading practitioners within the industry but also to create a thought-provoking and welcoming space for discourses to occur. This society has created a platform for members, myself included, to be inspired by the talks and want to learn more about this enigmatic industry. My enthusiastic approach will be an asset to maintaining the already established standards of this society. I am confident in reaching out to potential speakers and look forward to bringing in new and exciting ways to reach wider audiences and further explore the world of art business. As a second year History of Art student, my interest in art encompasses a wide variety of influences which can be utilised for the benefit and enrichment of the society. I possess the qualities of organisation, initiative and creativity; all essential for this role. By considering me for the position of Treasurer you can be assured that my contribution

Dorothy Kwok

Hello everyone,

My name is Dorothy, and I am a penultimate History of Art student at UCL, with a particular interest in post-modernist art theory and the intersection between technology and art. Currently, I am serving as the Business Development Officer at the Art Business Society!

I believe that I would be a fitting candidate for the position of Treasurer because of my diverse experiences in organizing events - I have experience in liaising with international galleries and artists as part of facilitating submissions for a large-scale art fair in Hong Kong. In addition, I have previously hosted and organized events, such as the UCL Chinese Society Variety Show, as well s Christmas Ball, Orientation Camp, and Debate Competitions for Hong Kong Joint School Economics Association. I have managed budgets for events in the past, ensuring that all expenses were accounted for and that we stayed within our means.

I am excited about the opportunity to get more involved in the Art Business Society and bring more opportunities to everyone interested in the business side of art. Thank you for reading this and please vote for me!

Amelia Chukhnova

Hi everyone!

As a part of a committee of the Art Business Society, I hope to continue its tradition of delivering insightful talks and an intense event schedule. This active engagement with the world of Art is what inspired me, so I am set on sustaining it and taking it further: organising events, creating more opportunities for society members, and strengthening the society's spirit.

As a treasurer, who is quite familiar with economic processes, having led school and community projects before, I can manage the finances effectively and safely, so that as a society we can have as much insight and opportunities as possible. Moreover, I plan to create a balanced scheme of spending and development and make sure the society gets all of the funding and grant opportunities provided by the UCL Student Union. This way I hope to encourage the Art Business society to develop and grow in multiple directions, to ultimately be on the frontline of decoding the art world.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me!

Best,

Amelia
