Zoe Cezard

Hey everyone! My name is Zoe and I’m a first year at UCL. I have only recently started playing tennis, but the R&D sessions (and the Wednesday socials) are some of the highlights of my week. I want others to be able to experience the same warm welcome I did as I joined the tennis club.

I am running for social secretary with my friends Charlotte Burdon and Harry Thomas. We became friends through the R&D tennis sessions and socials. This is partly why I want to run for social secretary, so new and returning members can get to know each other on the court or over a drink.

We also want all members to get the full Tennis club experience as we did. This means we guarantee fun weekly themed socials at the Rocket or Phineas before heading to Scala, and of course the highly anticipated Tennis Ball!

We are welcome to new ideas for socials. For instance, we were thinking of organizing pub nights to watch tennis matches together as a club, whether you are a long standing tennis fan or new to the sport.

We would love to take into account your feedback in order to make tennis socials even thrilling! Whether you would like to reach out through social media or in person, we want to appear as approachable and reliable.

Thank you and hopefully see you next year!

Zoe CEZARD :)

Charlotte Anne Burdon

Hey everyone! My name is Charlotte Burdon and I am a first year student at UCL.

I am running for social secretary with my friends Zoé Cezard and Harry Thomas, which I actually met through R&D. We really enjoy attending the tennis socials, dressed to impress according to the weekly theme, and would love to contribute to their organisation next year! We've already brainstormed some fun themes including (but not limited to) dress as a decade or match your racket.

I’ve been playing tennis for years and always knew I wanted to join my uni's tennis society. I didn't expect, however, that UCL tennis would become one of the highlights of my weeks between R&D sessions and socials at "The Rocket" followed by the trek to Scala. As such, I would love to get involved in the tennis committee!

As social secretaries, we would aim to create a fun tennis experience for all members on and off the courts. We guarantee to continue following the society’s traditions such as the weekly themed socials and the long awaited tennis ? (ball).  We would also love to innovate and for instance organise pub socials where we could watch and comment tennis matches together. Of course, we would be open and receptive to any new ideas. In order to gladly receive any suggestions, we would love to introduce a forum where members could submit recommendations.

Thanks for your consideration!

P.S. They call us Ace, cause you just got served.

Maria Volkov

This has been my first year as a part of UCL tennis society and a BUCS player. It has been a great experience that has been heavily influenced by the social aspect of the club. The social events that I have participated in this year have not only helped me strengthen my relationship with my team members but also get to know other members of the club. Personally, some of the relationships I have made through the social events hosted by the tennis society have become my good friends. The social events create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all club members, especially for those who are new to the club. If I were social secretary, I would love to contribute to creating this atmosphere next year, forming an opportunity for all members to come together and have fun. I really enjoy meeting and getting to know new people and being creative by coming up with fun ideas to encourage everyone to join in and participate. In addition, I am more than happy to collaborate with others to plan events with other societies. Being a social secretary is an essential part of the UCL tennis club, and I believe that I have both the social and organizational skills to fulfill this role to the best of my abilities.

Harry R Thomas

Hi everyone! My name is Harry Thomas and I would love to run for social secretary for the UCL tennis club. I came to UCL last September to study econ and geography, where my main sporting aim was to always join the UCL tennis club. There I met my friends Zoe Cezard and Charlotte Burdon, whom I intend to work with as a trio of social secs! I go to r&d and r&d+ sessions every week, as well as the tennis socials at the Rocket (and of course Scala!), so I am already well incorporated into the club in every way I can. I would love to run for this position with Zoe and Charlotte because we really want to make an impact on the club whilst we are at UCL, and I am extremely dedicated to tennis and to make sure that future students have the same experience that I had when I first joined. I would make sure to fulfill all the social sec roles, including organizing weekly socials, extra activities like the tennis ball, and of course keeping all the online socials up to date with concise and useful information. We would have great fun coming up with fresh ideas to make the UCL tennis club exciting for all levels of tennis, especially the weekly socials before sports night. We also feel it is important to consider the communities ideas, so we would love to incorporate a forum so that we can see how people are feeling about the club, and what we can do to make the social aspect even better. Thank you for your time, and I hope to work with everyone soon :)

Anna E Rankin

I am applying for this role because of what UCL Tennis socials have given me over the past year. Through the Wednesday socials, I have grown close to many people who I never would have met if not for UCL Tennis and for that I am so grateful. I would like to continue this tradition so that future members and players may also find a fun group of people to socialise with off-court! Moreover, I believe that I am equipped with the skills to organise and carry out the larger social gatherings for the society, such as the winter ball. I have seen the success of this year's ball and it inspired me to do the same, should I be given the role. Being an active member of the committee this year has enabled me to understand the logistics and commitment which goes into all of the events that UCL Tennis puts together.
