TEDx Society: President

Hi everyone! Hope all of you are doing great!

Here is Shaofeng or Travis, second year biochemical engineering student. The area I am studying includes biotechnology, engineering, management and mathematical modelling, which makes me gain very broad insight about the world. From this, I developed lots of versatile skills from my course and self-study as well like carrying out scientific research, use of programming tool like excel or Matlab to construct basic mathematical models and etc..
Also, I have been involved in some scientific research programs in my own time. These experience not only enhance my practical skills but also strongly improve my capability of working as a team and leading a team either.
Last but not least, I am strongly passionate and patient about the work and always thinking or learning differently, which could help me to play the role of president successfully I believe.

Hi! My name is Imrana and I am in my second year studying Arts and Sciences. I was part of the TEDxUCL committee this year, in the team in charge of the conference. This experience allowed me to understand better the organization of the society and to familiarize myself with the spirit that TEDx seeks to promote. In addition, I was able to create a bond with this society and the other members. This is what pushed me to run this year as President so I could enable everyone to live this same experience. I do not doubt my organizational skills which have been very useful to me during the preparation of the conference and other events that I have organized in the past. I also have good collaboration and interpersonal skills. I have an idea of the tasks this position requires and I know how I could proceed to be as efficient as possible. I’m not scared to take initiative. I also know the improvements that I could add for the satisfaction of the members and better performance of the committee. One of the things I would like to strengthen is team spirit and collaboration. My priority will be that everyone can live the enriching TEDx experience at UCL through conferences, salons and studios. I also want to bring closer members and permit them to share their passions by organizing socialization events. I know all of this will take a lot of effort but I am ready to be committed so that everyone can learn, and share but especially so they can create good memories.
