Emma K Larsson

Hii! I’m Emma, and I’m asking for the confidence to be your president next year.

I’m a soon to be third year (help) studying BASc with a neuroscience major and econ minor. Practically born on a T-bar, I love the mountains. I’m spontaneous and eager yet determined, organised and a world-renowned multitasker.

As treasurer, I’m involved in all aspects of the club. I got the markup from the 2019 trip back - bringing in funds to subsidise 70% of training costs. Also in charge of contracts and legal matters for the trip and events, I saw to our members’ interests. I worked on trip promotion, whilst budgeting events and charity donations, purchasing equipment, and created weekly, monthly and yearly budgets. We also welcomed amazing freshers who blessed us with laughs and trophies. I’m proud of all we accomplished this year, and so excited to take the next step and lead the club as your president.

So put on your goggles, because next year looks brighter than a bluebird day. I want to work with DSUK, the Union, and Hemel Hempstead to make adaptive snowsports a key part of our club. I want to maintain weekly trainings and increase competitions for freestylers and racers by cooperating with Snowsports clubs and run a competition post-exams, get two ski trips, and run socials such as sports tournaments and escape rooms.

Aah I’m running out of words, come along to the Hustings on Monday and I can't wait to tell you more!

Alasdair Fletcher

As ski captain this year, I tackled organisation for AJAM, Kings, and BUDS - experiencing how challenging but rewarding leading this society is. This year I have been present at almost every society event and have made sacrifices to deal with roadblocks. I have learned so much in my role and would love to apply it as president with the following objectives:

  • Increasing how many people we bring on our trip; we should capitalise on demand to make ski trip the event of the year
  • Pursue sponsorship opportunities; I have already begun reaching out to companies that would support us to purchase new equipment and subsidise trainings/events for members further
  • More diverse socials for people that don’t want to drink and bringing in more social members; other societies at smaller unis run huge events for people that don’t ski at all and having more people and diversity in our club would combat cliques and increase inclusivity
  • Increase competitiveness and further race team’s development by changing ski training locations, and training with other teams to learn from them. Additional revenue from improved trip capacity and sponsorship will fund improved equipment.

I have years of experience in the ski industry, have learned so much as ski captain and have so passion and energy for our sport and society; I believe these characteristics make me an ideal candidate for president.
