Bentham Brooks Institute Society: President

Hi everyone!

My name is Benedetta (you can call me Bennie!) and I am a second-year PPE student. I am currently Head of Research and Welfare here at the BBI: throughout the past year I coordinated the research programme by recruiting researchers and liaising with research leads and organised the Quantitative Methods Workshop to help researchers gain a foundational understanding of quantitative research.

My ideas to help the BBI expand next year include:

Strengthening the research programme by

• Speeding up the recruitment process to ensure more time is devoted to conducting the research
• Launching a workshop series in qualitative and quantitative research methods for all members

Broadening the range of events, including 

• A career programme, to inform students about careers in research and policy
• Socials of all kinds to promote cohesion among society members and have fun together!

Increasing access and involvement through 

• Application information sessions for prospective researchers, specifically targeted at students without any background in the field
• Improving diversity and inclusion by encouraging applications from students from backgrounds that have been historically under-represented in academia

Most importantly, I am passionate about research (I actually have a job as Research Assistant!) and want to help our members see how interesting and exciting this field can be.
