Hi I'm Aisha and I'll be running for Social Sec next academic year!

After spending a year on committee as mixed team captain I would like to use my experience organising team socials towards the entirety of the club! I'd plan to carry on the tradition of iconic sports nights, fun socials and tour but more importantly I'd like to bridge the gap between the team members and social members. I believe badminton is an extremely inclusive and fun club and through promoting intermingling from both the team and social members, we can have a great year together. I plan to do this by organising big socials like dinners, pub crawls and even wholesome non-alcoholic socials so no-one feels left out!

Being social sec requires organisation, creative thinking and enthusiasm, all qualities which I believe I possess. With the world slowly going back to pre-pandemic vibes, I am eager to organise the best possible social experiences for all members.

RUMS Badminton has been an incredibly important part of my university experience where I met amazing people and had wonderful experiences. I'd love to have the chance to emulate this experience for new members as well as current ones.

Tommy Jenkins

Hey everyone, I'm Tommy and running to be one of your next Social Secs, alongside Aisha!

My year as part of RUMS Badminton has been a highlight of time in UCL - the club is accepting, supportive and so much fun! Even an incompetent fool such as myself, who can barely hit a shuttlecock, felt instantly at home within this society. I want to use my experience from the RUMS Events committee to help organise fun social events for my favourite club in RUMS.

What are my goals?

  • Continue providing exciting sports night and carry on our beloved traditions for old and new members alike
  • Preserve classic events, such as tour, curry nights and president's welcome
  • Provide more social meet-ups outside of sports night for members who aren't as comfortable with that environment
  • Create more opportunities for team and social members to bond

Why me?

  • My time on RUMS Events has provided me with key organisation, communication and creativity skills, that are fundamental to being a good Social Sec. I have experience liasing with organisations and venues in order to plan fun events.
  • I am enthusiastic, diligent and have a genuine love for this club and all of its members. I am determined to provide us with an amazing social experience!

I credit RUMS Badminton with making me feel like a more active member of UCLMS. It has been such a great club to join following lockdown and I'd love to create a similar environment for any new members next year!
