Anime Society: Treasurer

The Anime Society has been one of my main sources of socialisation throughout the school year, in particularly thanks to the weekly Wednesday socials. I want to be able to help keep the snacks and drinks flowing every Wednesday, as well as for our other events, and maybe also add to our (currently very limited) selection of board games!

Hi everyone! I’m Angie (they/them), a shoujo & otome enthusiast! You might remember me as a performer (and choreographer!) from Maid Cafe, or as a vocalist in our very own anime band.

At Anime Society, I’ve met a wonderful friendly community who bond over a common interest, and a community that has welcomed me right from day 1. No matter what niche anime or game you’re into, there’s bound to be people happy to share the joy!

In the coming year, I’d like to help our (now much bigger!) society flourish by becoming your Treasurer.

As Treasurer, I will ensure our committee, particularly Events Officers, have the resources they need to put on amazing events! I hope that we can host stunning inter-university events and give our friends in the London Anime Union a warm welcome to the vibrant Anisoc community at UCL. My interpersonal and organisation skills, gained through producing and managing large scale musicals, will be wonderful for the role.

Hey, I’m Goose on the Discord server. I’ve enjoyed the past year as Events Officer alot, highlights being reviving the weekly Among Us events and running the weekly Gundam 00 streams particularly with the folks with no prior exposure to the show.

As treasurer I’d like to build on the solid foundation that Nithish has created. My policy as treasurer will be to invest more into the society, our events and our members. I will immediately begin work on securing UCL Anisoc its own plushie production capacity. Cambridge Anisoc has offered to help us and as I am regularly in Cambridge, I’m in a good position to do field research. Our members will be able to create their own custom fumos and plushies. Additionally the sewing equipment could be lent out to our resident cosplayers, increasing the value of the investment.

I would also like to invest in mics to allow us to host our own karaoke events in-house and avoid the cost of hiring venues. They would also be useful for any revived Anisoc podcasts. I’m also interested in funding the purchase of TTRPGs such as Lancer Core. Lastly, I’d like to increase the production of Yuni-chan merch overall, focusing on keeping it affordable while still ensuring that the prices cover all costs to avoid overburdening our budget. I have already developed a plan to produce Yuni Gunpla at £20 a unit. I would announce all merch projects prior to even beginning production to make sure that wasted stock is not created.
