In medicine there is a huge amount of content to learn in each module, and anatomy is no exception. Tutorials are a great way to revise and learn the information as they present the information in a simple and easy to understand way. Being the tutorials officer, it would give me the opportunity to help pre-clinical medical students and others learn all the anatomy they need to know by organising tutorials.

Amaani Ahmad

Hi everyone,

I’m Amaani and I would love to be Tutorials Officer.

During my time at med school, I have really appreciated the fantastic tutorials that Anatomy Soc has put on and would love to play a role in continuing to support students and ensure that everyone can easily access advice and resources to better understand anatomy.

As part of SurgSoc’s Education Committee, I set up a tutorial series, teaching content to Year 1 students. This role required knowledge on how to successfully promote teaching events to maximise sign-ups and effective communication with other members of the society to raise awareness of events, for example using advertising on social media platforms. I feel these skills I have acquired are highly relevant to this role and will be useful when setting up anatomy tutorials in a similar way.

In addition, leading a dissection society has enabled me to explain complex topics clearly and concisely. I take pride in my work ethic and commitment as well as communication skills I have acquired, which would prepare me for this role.

Having held leadership positions in the past, I feel confident I would be able to motivate others, stay organised and efficient when completing a task individually but also work successfully in a team. I hope to help to raise awareness of the fantastic opportunities that Anatomy Society provides and grow the number of students part of this supportive community.

I hope I have your vote!

Sumayyah Imran

Throughout second and third year, I really enjoyed getting involved in teaching and organising tutorials. I've delivered PACS tutorials and this year I have been mentoring a group for anatomy, in addition to my part-time job tutoring GCSE and A-level. I love being able to help my fellow students understand topics I struggled with; that “aha!” moment is hugely satisfying.

That’s why I’d love to be Anatomy Tutorials Officer next year, and would hugely enjoy collaborating with my peers to design resources to support the new first and second years and to carry on this excellent legacy within the medical school.

I would like to work on the following:

  • To design and utilise more 3-D resources in teaching to facilitate understanding
  • To add to the banks of questions and resources created by the previous years to make even more exam- and clinical-style questions available for students

I'd love to take on this role, so do consider voting for me!
