I am standing for the Events and Outreach Executive Role of UCL Guild because the Guild is the largest career hub at UCL and unites five different societies to help students explore and find the career that best suits them, be it in business, entrepreneurship or data science. I hope to become an Executive so that by organising these events, I can create a good membership experience for the large community of Guild members at UCL.

I am applying to the Events and Outreach team because this role exposes me to firms and individuals outside UCL and trains my event-organising skills. As part of the team, I will be responsible for liaising with different societies and departments at UCL and also contacting externals and inviting them to Guild events. I have experience in this field when I organised a careers panel as the First Year Representative in the PPE Society, and I am sure that apart from being able to apply what I have learnt from previous experience into my role. I have also already been voluntarily helping with organising Guild events such as the Meet the Committee social and different speaker events. I hope to be elected so that I can continue the work I have been doing and organise the most fulfilling events for all Guild members.

Harvey Wen

Serving as the interim executive for the Events and Outreach team since the start of the academic year at UCL’s largest careers hub, my strong interpersonal skills and ability to work under stress have played a key role. Planning and organising various events across different financial sectors for our 5,000 registered members across our network and recognising the importance of managing and maintaining strong client relationships, I have heavily relied upon those skills to liaise with top banking and consultancy firms to join our financial network.

My passion for networking and connecting people within UCL grants me the confidence that I can continue to bring creative ideas and fresh perspectives to the team and work effectively with others to ensure the success of events and outreach activities.

I will continue to dedicate the time it takes to contribute to Guild and support all students in achieving their professional goals!
