You’ll be the person leading warmups at full casts + shows and choreographing and coordinating finales for all our shows! On top of committee duties, you’ll also be helping people who come to you with dancing or choreography help! By this I mean supporting choreographers for shows who might need a bit of a push (e.g. dropping in to rehearsals with new choreographers, providing feedback and ideas when requested etc!)

Auriane Milot

Hey friends! I’m Auriane, a 2nd year International Social and Political Studies student and I’m running to be your new Resident Choreographer! Being involved in Dance Society was the best decision I made as a fresher and running for committee is just the logical continuation.

I would say I’m a pretty versatile dancer. I trained mostly in jazz, contemporary and ballet. Still, I took beginner/intermediate courses in street, dancehall, hip hop, Cuban salsa and tap. Furthermore, I have choreographed/am choreographing for Dance Soc in a variety of circumstances such as Fresher’s Show 2022 and 2023, this year's advanced jazz competition team and lately Blooms 2024. I also ran multiple workshops last year for UCL Movement and Dance Soc’s Term 3 Student Workshops.

All this to say I now have quite a bit of experience in choreography and teaching. I also believe that my participation in the various shows Dance Soc has to offer expanded my knowledge and will help me become the best resident choreographer possible.

I am aware that a big part of this position is to guide choreographers in their creative process. I would be stoked to help them and give them my insights and tips. I will also take time to drop into rehearsals for beginner choreographers or any choreographer who needs a second opinion.

Something that I can promise you is that I will work extremely hard in this position, and I already have so many songs for the finales!

Andrea Chung

Not only do my skills and experience make me well-equipped for the Resident Choreographer role, but I am also passionate about creating a welcoming dance environment. In particular, I'm confident in excelling at the 3 main responsibilities: 1) coordinating finales, 2) supporting struggling choreographers, and 3) managing general committee tasks.

My strength lies in my adaptability and experience in diverse dance styles, from ballet to contemporary and hip-hop. This allows me to create dynamic finale numbers that suit dancers’ various skills and styles. My experience with various styles helps me better understand how to make movement look natural and visually engaging, allowing me to effectively support choreographers. I’m no stranger to creative blocks, so if anyone faces choreography challenges, I’m eager to lend a helping hand!

Despite this being my first year at UCL, I've actively engaged in dance events. I choreographed 'Jericho,' a contemporary piece, and participated in 2 other Freshers Show dances. Currently, I'm part of advanced hip-hop and contemp comps teams and will join the Blooms Show. Past experience in student council and dance team leadership roles further proves that I am a responsible and reliable candidate.

I’m committed to bringing out the best in everyone, dancers and choreographers alike. I’ll work to ensure that dance is always a source of joy and never stress. Put your trust in me, and you won't be disappointed!
