Saad Hafejee

Hey there,

My name is Saad and I am going into my 2nd year of Economics at UCL - Having joined Pi media and being involved with the Pi TV and online team, I would love the opportunity to work closer within the society and get to know more intriguing people, which is why I am running for next year's welfare officer.

If elected, I plan to take an active approach in welcoming students across UCL during the freshers' fair by being on hand to represent the society. In addition, I'd like to offer pastoral support by arranging a slotted time during the week whereby members can ask questions in person or by emailing in through a personalised email. Finally, I'd like to increase communication between members and the committee, by helping organise meetups, as well as attempting to set up a mentorship scheme to give guidance and advice to UCL students within journalism. Having experienced how daunting it may seem to get involved initially, I believe these actions and my approachable nature will make the society more welcoming to potential members.

I understand the importance of a welfare officer have great organisational and communication skills and be a committed member of the team. My balancing of university, journalism, and private life, my varied work experience across the education, service, and events management sectors, and my leadership approach to group projects during first year, demonstrate these skills, and I pledge to utilise this to help further Pi Media's reach.
