Mike Hammond

Hi, I’m Mike.

I’ve really enjoyed working for Pi as a Features editor this year and I want to continue producing high quality content as photography officer next year.

Why I think I would be best suited for this role:

  • As Features editor, I worked with committee members, other editors, and writers to produce articles for Pi. I know how to make the most of my time as photography officer as I understand how Pi works and the process of creating articles from both perspectives.
  • When covering the UCU strikes this year, I organised photography coverage of the demonstrations to go alongside the article I had written. This really improved the readability and quality of the piece. As photography officer, I want to provide more photography coverage to produce more engaging articles.
  • I’m a photographer in my spare time and as part of my Architecture and Engineering degree. I understand photography and how to make successful content for Pi.

Proposals:

  • I would like to have more photography incorporated articles in Pi. Increasing the amount of student photojournalism at Pi would move the newspaper in a new direction and make more exciting articles.
  • I also want to assemble a group of photographers, ready to cover events for Pi Media and provide more original in-house content.

If elected to be photography officer, it would be a great opportunity to produce new content for Pi and you can count on me to make the most of this position next year.

Thanks
