Lincoln Cheng

Hello everyone. I am Lincoln, a Year 1 PPE student; since young, I have had a strong passion for politics at the national and international levels, and have actively participated in over 30 MUNs, such as Harvard WorldMUN and LIMUN, to broaden my political awareness and hone my diplomacy and leadership skills. I have been recognised for my abilities, being elected as the current VP of UCLUNA.

During my leadership roles, I have been actively involved in organising events and workshops to raise engagement among members and collaborating with other societies to create networking opportunities for our members. An example would be the recent London Intercollegiate MUN Simulation organised in collaboration with 6 other London schools.

If elected as the President of the Government & Politics Society, I intend to reach these goals:

1. Expanding the society’s membership and outreach via collaboration with other societies such as UCLUNA or Diplomacy Society to promote our activities and benefits

2. Creating valuable opportunities for members to interact and network with professionals in the field of government and politics, such as through mentorship programmes with alumni, embassy visits, etc.

3. Organising joint events, campaigns and projects on topics of mutual interest, for instance, a joint publication between Politics-affiliated societies.

I strongly believe that my skill set will be of great benefit to the Society, and thus I implore you to give me a vote of confidence.

David T Schmidt

Hi everyone!

My name is David and I’m a first-year BSc PIR student.

I’m running to make a positive impact as president of our Society

My aims:

  • Organising events to foster a vibrant dynamic
  • Increased engagement with members
  • Collaboration with other societies and channels

My experiences in management:

  • Student Ambassador in my Sixth Form, representing all students
  • Leadership in organisational work (UNESCO and LiNK)
    • Skills to guide + support our members in the ways they need
    • Excellent organisation and communication skills

I’m passionate about representing all members and working to promote their interests. My open-mindedness and willingness to listen to others' opinions will ensure that everyone's voice is heard and valued. Growing up in different countries, paired with my passion for IR, provided me with a deep understanding of the world’s complexities.

My experience in both formal and informal settings capacitates me to find creative solutions to complex issues. I’m confident I can foster an inclusive and progressive environment, encouraging engagement. I hope to use my experience and enthusiasm to serve the Society and our members. I’m eager to work hard for the betterment of our society and believe I’m the right candidate for the job because of my skills and experience in being an effective leader that advocates for our members.
