Hi, My name is Vanessa Qian, a second-year Chemical Engineering student, and I am excited to put forth my candidacy for the position of Events Officer.
Having been an active participant in university events such as Meltdown or inter-uni varsity, I've developed a passion for community engagement and fostering connections. I thrive on meeting new people, and my outgoing personality has been a consistent catalyst for facilitating lively exchanges. Moreover, my love for a broad range of games, for instance from MOBAs and FPS games to rhythm games, equips me with the ability to design events that can resonate with a diverse audience.
Experience has come not just from attending events, but also from organizing them. Having contributed to the planning of galas at other universities, I've gained valuable insights into effective event management, an asset I bring to this role.
As your Events Officer, my commitment lies in increasing engagement and building a stronger community. My vision includes a diverse array of events catering to varied interests, for example like arcade-related activities, aimed at creating a sense of nostalgia and fostering friendly competition.
To conclude I am excited about the opportunity to create memorable experiences and foster a vibrant, interconnected community.
Hi! I was Welfare Officer this year, so I went to many events for Gaming Soc and started to think of a bunch of ideas for events for next year. If I'm elected, I'll push to have more events throughout the year like IRL Geoguessr, FIFA one day tournaments and maybe even an airsoft or nerf gun challenge between the different FPS communities (ex. Valorant and CSGO communities).
Hi everyone, I'm Alex. I'm a first-year Mathematics student and a devout patron of Sidequest. I'm currently playing CSGO, Rainbow Six Siege and PUBG. My all-time favourite would definitely be Metal Gear Solid V.
As an avid gamer, I have witnessed firsthand how gaming events allow us to bond with friends, create a sense of community and provide opportunities for friendly competition. This now only allows us to make meaningful connections but also showcases our diverse talents, backgrounds and interests.
Having had leadership roles in both the Singapore and Malaysian Societies, I believe that I have the skills required in planning and executing events whether in person or online. This includes experience in sober and drinking events as well as collaborations, finding suitable venues and interactions with the Student Union. Therefore, I am confident in my ability to unique and enjoyable events.
I want to bring fresh ideas to our events that include themed gaming nights, charity marathons, VR experiences, pub quizzes and movie nights. These ideas will be made with the intention of being inclusive for all members of varying interests and skill levels so that everyone feels welcomed and included.
I aim to accommodate more games into our society as well as have more collaborations with other societies of common interest like Anime, Chess and Board Games Societies. Together, I hope that we can create a society for gamers to connect, engage, and celebrate their shared passion.
