Environmental Law and Life Science Society: Communications Officer

Hi, I’m Helena, and I am a third-year Geography student. I am confident I can flourish in this role and enhance everyone’s experience, and will explain this below :). 

• Network: Having spent 5 months working with a legal startup in Hong Kong and London, I have built a network that will aid in securing future event speakers. 
• Professional experience:  Through my participation in events like the Linklaters ESG Open Day and the Pitch for Change Competition, I have not only improved my communication skills but also deepened my understanding of environmental law. My active professional engagement means you can be sure that I will actively contribute to the society's events.
• Academic expertise: Pursuing a Geography degree, I possess comprehensive sustainability knowledge, including expertise in areas such as greenwashing, and public international law, acquired through academic modules. This, along with my recent essay on the UK legal system’s effectiveness in addressing HS2’s environmental impacts, makes me well-prepared for this role. 
• Waitressing: Working as a waitress, I handled over 300 orders whilst juggling my studies. This honed my customer service ability, which will prove invaluable when engaging with various individuals.
