As someone who is keen to learn more about sustainable and green energy, taking part in the energy society would allow me to help take a more proactive role in pushing for change across UCL and other institutions. Having been treasurer for my 6th form student committee during high school and undertaking accounting modules in my 1st year, I believe that I am someone with the integrity, work ethic and communication skills to allow the energy society to achieve greater things next year.
Hi! I am Joan Tang, a Chemical Engineering student minoring in Accounting & Finance, and I would like to run for the treasurer of Energy Society to actively contribute to our members’ experience and ensure a long term financial viability of the society.
Energy Society is a great platform with huge potential for growth, and I am excited to collaborate with the team in turning our ideas and visions into reality. Transparency and accountability in budget allocation will be my utmost priority, and I will always strive for the best return of every penny of the society. Having experiences as the Vice President of AIESEC and Head of Marketing at UCL Engineering Society allowed me to gain essential skills including strategic planning and effective communication, which I hope will make me a good fit for the position.
I hope to build on the past successes of the society by working with my fellow committee to plan and organise more energy-related speaker events, conferences and hackathons, while maintaining good communication between the society members and the Student Union. Seeking sponsorships will also be my main objective to effectively increase the society’s financial budget. I am ready to grow personally and professionally alongside all our members, and thank you for reading.
