Technology is reshaping healthcare faster than ever and I want UCL's MedTech Society to be part of that conversation.
As a Population Health Sciences with Data Science student, I've seen first-hand how data and digital tools can transform health outcomes. I've put that into practice: consulting for a health diagnostics startup on AI-driven retention strategy, presenting to senior leadership at KPMG on blockchain and AI for ESG, and completing statistics courses at Stanford and Johns Hopkins with distinction.
As Technology Officer, I want to raise our digital game, bring in real industry exposure, and make this Society unmissable for anyone who cares about the future of medicine.
Hi everyone! My name is Laura, a current biomedical engineering student, and I'm standing to be your next Technology Officer!
This year's coding workshops genuinely got me excited about what this society can do. Seeing members being taught and engage with real technical skills was something special, and it made me want to be part of making that happen for others. In a time where technology constantly becomes bigger in our lives, getting the opportunity to learn them from experts is such a valuable experience that I want to take part of.
If elected, here's what I want to bring to MedTech UCL:
🔧 More hands-on, interactive workshops: not just Python, but branching out into other languages and tools relevant to healthcare tech, like MATLAB or R for data analysis or JavaScript for health app prototyping.
🤝 Cross-society hackathons: I want to reach out to other healthcare and tech societies across UCL to co-host events where we tackle real-world medical challenges together. These kinds of collaborations build skills, community, and CVs.
📈 A progression pathway: workshops designed so beginners feel welcome but there's always a next step for members who want to go further.
I'm passionate about making technology accessible to everyone in MedTech, regardless of your coding background. Let's build something great together!
Hi guys! I'm Leqi and I'm standing as your next Technology Officer.
Through attending various MedTech events this year, I’ve realised that with the rapid development of AI among other things, the technology component of MedTech is becoming more and more important. Although I wouldn’t say I’m a seasoned professional in this space, I am committed to carrying out the role and duties of Technology Officer to the best of my ability and I am very open to learning new skills as part of being in this role, whether that be running the coding workshops or helping with the website and article publication.
If nominated, I will work diligently with the other members of the committee to ensure that our flagship coding event is marketed and delivered to the highest quality and is pitched at a beginner friendly level (particularly at the start) to allow people to develop interest in coding and to equip them with the skills that allow further self-exploration. Having been Head of Music at my previous school, where I was responsible for managing the instagram and posting events ahead of time, I believe that I have the necessary experience to efficiently and successfully market whatever is handed to me as best as I can, and to communicate effectively within a team to deliver our goals.
I am sure that having a strong foundation in technology is a big advantage in the job market today and I hope to give all our members an insight into acquiring these skills in this role.
