Election post
Hi everyone! My name is Laura, a current biomedical engineering student, and I'm standing to be your next Technology Officer!
This year's coding workshops genuinely got me excited about what this society can do. Seeing members being taught and engage with real technical skills was something special, and it made me want to be part of making that happen for others. In a time where technology constantly becomes bigger in our lives, getting the opportunity to learn them from experts is such a valuable experience that I want to take part of.
If elected, here's what I want to bring to MedTech UCL:
🔧 More hands-on, interactive workshops: not just Python, but branching out into other languages and tools relevant to healthcare tech, like MATLAB or R for data analysis or JavaScript for health app prototyping.
🤝 Cross-society hackathons: I want to reach out to other healthcare and tech societies across UCL to co-host events where we tackle real-world medical challenges together. These kinds of collaborations build skills, community, and CVs.
📈 A progression pathway: workshops designed so beginners feel welcome but there's always a next step for members who want to go further.
I'm passionate about making technology accessible to everyone in MedTech, regardless of your coding background. Let's build something great together!
