Marie Ndiaye

My name is Marie Ndiaye, and I am a second-year BSc PIR student with a genuine passion for international development. I am running for Welfare Officer of the IDEA Society because I want to help fellow students discover and explore this field from a student perspective. International development can feel like a vast and distant subject, but I  believe that we can engage with it meaningfully at our own scale, and that helping people find their place within it is one of the most rewarding things we can do.

My goal is to create a welcoming and stimulating environment where students feel supported in their curiosity and motivated to get involved. Beyond my academic interest, I also have concrete experience to bring to this role. I am the co-founder and Treasurer of UCL's AWA, a society linked to international development, through which I have learned how to build and nurture a community around a shared cause. I would love to channel that experience and enthusiasm into serving the IDEA Society as Welfare Officer.
