My name is Lavdhi Jain, and I am excited to run for Pre-Clinical Education Chair! I am passionate about supporting students through the preclinical years, a key and foundational stage of medical school. I believe this role offers a valuable opportunity to nurture and build their confidence from the outset.
Over the past year, I delivered tutorials to first-year students, focusing on core content and exam guidance. I aimed to create a welcoming environment where students felt comfortable asking questions. With an interest in surgery, I highlighted the clinical relevance of pre-clinical topics to reinforce understanding and make learning impactful, where possible.
Beyond teaching, I developed skills in time management and organisation through leadership roles. As Treasurer of the UCL Indian Dance Society, I managed finances and supported events. My involvement with the RUMS Raising and Giving subcommittee allowed me to contribute to meaningful projects. These experiences taught me the importance of planning, consistency, and teamwork- qualities I hope to bring to this role.
As Chair, I aim to build an accessible and supportive academic environment. I plan to organise peer-led sessions tailored to student needs, including revision tutorials, clinical skills workshops, and exam preparation covering practical content. I especially want to support students in connecting preclinical theory to surgical practice, enhancing learning.
Thank you for reading, and I hope to have your support!
