K-POP Society: Events Officer

For the past 2 years, K-pop Society has been the safe haven I run to when I want to escape my responsibilities and procrastinate my work. Initially, I remember it felt daunting to approach people, partake in performances and find friends I could connect with. However, it was the committee & community which spurred me to go outside my comfort zone and made me feel part of a family. This euphoric feeling of warmth motivated me to contribute back to the society which provided it all. I hope that by undertaking a role as events officer, I can be part of the team that fosters enriching & unforgettable memories which my predecessors once provided for me 💙💖🫶.

As Events Officer, my mantra is to strive to create inclusive events for new members, forge stronger ties between current members and create a vibrant space to relax and unwind. Additionally, I’ll aim to actively solicit event feedback & suggestions from members such that the events we run are what you want to manifest! No matter how unhinged it may be <3333 Ultimately, I want to ensure that from the casual listener to the seasoned veteran, our events will be engaging, inclusive and create lasting memories 🌠🌌🌃

Lastly, I also hope to propose initiatives to spice up our annual events (Such as Themed Socials & K-Pop Quiz Nights), forge stronger inter-uni ties and provide timely & active support to the organisation of our weekly dance classes and covers throughout the academic year 🌟🐳🌟

I'm running for this role because I want to help create fun, welcoming, and unforgettable experiences for everyone in the society!  I know that events are core to our society and require great organisational skills, which I am willing to provide.

I’ve noticed some ways our events could be made smoother and even more engaging, and I’m full of ideas on how to improve.

I wish to create a schedule which encorporates a wide range of activities to accommodate different interests.

I’m confident in my organizational skills and time management—I'm very meticulous and always aim to stay on top of things, which I know is crucial when coordinating successful events. Whether it’s socials, annual events, dance classes or our beautiful showcases, I’m excited to help design events that bring people together and highlight the amazing space in our society.

Overall, my goal is to bring more energy, attention, and fun to our events—making sure everyone leaves with a smile and great memories.

As I finish up my first year, K-pop society has been a place where I not only got the opportunity to express my love for dance and performance, but where I felt like part of a community. As someone who is introverted myself, I know how hard it can be to integrate into a new environment, especially societies, and joining dance classes and social events was my way of branching out and making friends. As events officer, I want to give those same opportunities to other people by creating fun social events and chances for everyone to come together! I'm very creative and have hosted fun events for my school in the past, so I bring with me the experience of making events and also concerningly high levels of compulsive email checking :)
