Anime Society: Treasurer

Some of my best first year memories have come from Anime Society, including drawing Bald Gojo during Freshers Week, belting out Baka Mitai at karaoke and being shocked with everyone else by *that scene* from Dandadan during the screenings.

I’m Abbie, and I’m running for treasurer to keep this fun alive while expanding the society and the scope of its activities. I want to help finance more ways for current and future members to form new friendships, make the most of London student life and unwind from the horrors of academia through a shared passion for anime (and adjacent media!).

Here are some fun facts about me:

• Proficient at working with numbers, as a Biochemistry student
• Experienced with using spreadsheets for finances
• Collaboratively organised large events like Jazz and Salsa Society’s Fiesta as its assistant producer
• Familiar with Student Union reimbursement, room booking and risk assessment processes
• Never spent money on a gacha game (I once lost a Venti 50/50 though 💔)

And here is what I aim to do as your Anime Society treasurer:

• Seek new sponsorships with anime and Japan-based organisations
• Focus the society’s budget towards intersociety and interuni events
• Acquire Union Grant Funds to enhance weekly socials (i.e: quiz night prizes!)
• Prevent the society from ceasing to exist
