MUN has been one of my greatest passions for the past 7 years and I'd like to share that passion with as many people as possible. By creating events, building a community, and offering socials that appeal to our members, we can help build a greater professional and personal network at UCL. The last few years have taught us that social connection is more important than ever, and an aspect of University that is undervalued and underappreciated.

With experience as a member, as a Secretary, and as President of the University of Leicester MUN Society, I have the transferable skill set to excel in this role and deliver the best events for us.

Being part of the United Nations Society committee as an Events Director would enable me to immerse myself in the behind-the-scenes of MUN conferences within UCL as well as external ones. As I am new to the society, I believe that this would allow me to foster my own growth and I would be able to engage with the UN system and familiarize myself with a dynamic environment. This would also allow me to gain more professional skills that would enable me to thrive in high-paced settings, particularly public speaking and planning. As an events director, I would get the chance to take part and organize events which would allow me to meet a diverse range of people from different backgrounds and participate in connecting with other like-minded people, which I find to be indispensable.

I have participated in debate clubs throughout the course of my high school career, and I do believe that it has armed me with great public speaking skills and confidence that has allowed me to thrive in a more professional environment. Not only that, I also was involved in the basketball and athletics clubs and believe that partaking in these activities has imparted me with the ability to connect with other people more easily as well as foster a good sense of time management and confidence, due to the fact that I had to balance both school sports competitions as well as academics. Even now, I am balancing my internship at a startup in the finance tech sector where I am expected to take on extra readings, tasks like presenting powerpoints and market

First and foremost I am running because I’ve been a MUNer for eight years and MUN has been responsible for some of my favorite memories. I’ve met close friends through MUN activities or conferences and genuinely believe MUN has helped me grow as a person. As Events Officer, I want to ensure that all UCLUNA members share those experiences. More specifically, I want to focus on organizing more speaker events and our own conference, in order to allow society members to benefit from various MUN-related experiences.

In the past, I’ve helped to organize three high school MUN conferences (serving on the Secretariat) and I would love to organize a UCL conference. UCLMUN existed a few years ago and I am running on the platform that it's time to revive it! I also want to expand the number of speaker events that the UCLUNA offers. I’ve organized keynote speakers for MUN conferences in the past (including Human Rights activists, diplomats, security experts) and would apply those experiences when organizing engaging and fascinating speaker events for the UCLUNA.

Finally, as mentioned, I met some of my closest friends at MUN-related activities, which is why I also pledge to organize exciting socials for the committee. I’ve always loved to see people tear each other apart in debate and then turn into best friends once the committee goes on break, and I believe socials are the best way to encourage that dynamic and make sure we all get along (no matter how heated the debate gets).
