Salsa Society: Events Coordinator

Hi I’m Alexa!🐒

If you don't already know me from taking register at the door, I am the current interim Events Coordinator!

Like many of you, I’m pretty new to the salsa/bachata world, starting last year here in UCL! I was immediately hooked - spending many late nights on the dance floor, laughs outside of Ingold, competing with the bachata team, and joining the committee as Social Sec.

I have learned a lot during my past year in the society, specifically, the importance of creating and cultivating a community. Partner dancing can be intimidating, however it can quickly become a passion - a new and exciting way of connecting with people. It is my goal to create events that bring students together, both internal and external to the society, where people can feel comfortable practicing their social dancing, discover new flavours of dance, and welfare is kept at our forefront.

From my previous experience as Social Sec and in Events, I am familiar with organising events, negotiating discounts for our members, communicating with external partners in the Latin dance community, and working with the Student Union. With these skills and experience, I aim to be ambitious in delivering further enriching events to our members like the boat party, salsa balls, inter-uni partnerships, international festivals, and oversea trips whilst maintaining accessibility.

I hope to continue supporting our UCL community and create opportunities for people to explore their love for salsa and bachata!
