Jasmine Franklin

I would like to be the Welfare Officer for the society as I intend to be a voice and representative for those from diverse backgrounds. The welfare of each member is paramount. I am extremely passionate about mental health due to my own lived experiences and the cause holds great meaning. Welfare and well-being are key components to living a healthy and happy life. I would like to contribute to the society in a way that assigns value to every member and help to create an environment that breeds acceptance. Also, I am keen to use my passion in a way that is constructive and enhances the lives of others and the community that exists within the society. I would be an ideal candidate as I have a wealth of experience to help me fulfil the requirements of the role.

In terms of experience, I have volunteered for a placement called Social Hackathons. This opportunity involves a student being placed with a not-for-profit organisation. I am keen on charitable work for meaningful causes.

I have been as a designated Trustee for Mind.

I have been an Equality champion and an Inclusion Officer for two of the societies at my previous university.

Also I have experience of working alongside people with mental health issues.

I have taken part in a wellbeing project for BAME students.

Similarly, I have been an ambassador for a wellbeing project.

I have been a peer mentor.

I was also selected for the Leadership Programme. I have the skills to lead. I have been an ambassador for the summer school at my previous university.
