Candidates

Angelica Blotto

I am a final year BSc Applied Medical Sciences student and I have been an active member of the society for the last two years. I attended the Python coding workshop last year and many of the talks; I particularly enjoyed the Women in MedTech conference. I have a strong interest in translational research and evidence-based medicine to tackle unmet healthcare needs. I am currently taking modules in Nanotechnology in Medicine, Stem Cell Therapeutics and The Human Microbiome in Health and Disease, which are novel and highly promising areas of research. The ever-evolving field of MedTech is truly fascinating and something I hope to be a part of in the future.

I would like to run for Technology in Healthcare Conference Executive as I believe this is an excellent opportunity to reach out and listen to expert speakers discuss areas of MedTech they are passionate about. I am a highly organized individual so I believe I will be able to effectively coordinate the logistics for conference day and coordinate sponsorship; I balance my university studies with my volunteering roles at UCLH and GOSH, co-director for plays in the Drama Society, and as Transition Mentor and Student Ambassador for my faculty, all the while receiving the Highest Achievement Award for two consecutive years. I would also like to make the most of this unique opportunity to network with inspiring individuals in the MedTech field and contribute to the success of this event. I hope you consider my application! :)

Matthew Lau

Hey everyone! I'm Matthew, and I've been a medical student at UCL for four years now. After doing my iBSc in Maths and Computer Science, I've developed a passion for MedTech and look forward to using this role to share this interest with all of you.

I've been fortunate enough to have been able to lead other medical conferences in places including Hong Kong and the UAE, where we've managed to recruit speakers including the Physician to the King, WHO officials, and representatives from academic and governmental institutions across the world. I hope to use these connections and experience in conferences to run our best conference yet. Can't wait to meet all of you in person!

Kateryna Polishchuk

I am enthusiastically seeking the Tech in Healthcare Conference executive position at the MedTech Society as a way to collaborate with its members in organising and coordinating impactful events. I am eager to contribute to the planning process, which involves speaker invitations, sponsorship coordination, and logistics management. My goal is to fit seamlessly into the team, using my strong communication skills to establish relationships with industry experts and thus expanding the MedTech Society's network. I am passionate about using these skills to ensure the success of the conference and to further the society's mission of advancing technology in healthcare. Joining this team gives me the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded people, combining our assets.

Jannelle Ofrin

Hey guys! My name is Jannelle and I am currently a 2nd year Biomedical engineering student. This role would be a perfect fit for me as I have strong interest in Neurotechnology, specifically implantable medical devices for rehabilitative purposes. Other than this, I am an extremely thorough and organised person; if elected, I would be sure to utilise this to ensure that the event runs as smoothly as possible.

Previously, I was part of my school’s Senior prefect team which regularly organised fundraising events for charities such as the Douglas Macmillan coffee morning and Annual sponsored walk. The communication and organisational skills I developed here can be directly applied to ensure the success of this conference; I’d love the opportunity to be part of this event and this amazing society! I’d appreciate your vote :)

Juan Grano De Oro Fernandez

After participating in Coding Workshops and the MedTech Mentorship Program, my interest in organizing events for MedTech has increased tremendously. Eager to contribute to this sector that I am passionate about, I'm excited to use my previous experience and skills to ensure the success of the Technology in Healthcare Conference, fostering learning and collaboration among Medical Technology admirers. As a Biomedical Engineering graduate and current MSc student in Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering, I aim to bring leaders and scientists to inspire aspiring professionals in this dynamic sector. Therefore, as a Technology in Healthcare Conference Executive, I'm committed to creating a valuable experience for all MedTech members.

To excel in this position, some of my concerns are:

-Employ my wide experience from prior events (MEW, sRM) for seamless and professionally significant conferences

-Usage of effective networking tools (Apollo together with LinkedIn, GMass) to connect with engaging speakers, professionals, sponsors, and companies to ensure compelling talks and a sustainable event infrastructure

-Employment of proven helpful techniques (Organizers book, tasks matrix) to strengthen and enhance future editions of the event

Eager to excel, aiming to set a strong precedent for the role, and contribute significantly to MedTech, I believe I possess the qualities to be an excellent Technology in Healthcare Conference Executive.

Devanandh Murugesan

Hi everyone, I’m Dev and I would love to be your Technology in Healthcare Executive this year!

As a third year medical student and an avid member of MedTech society since my first year, I’ve come to see Technology as the spark which moves medicine forward - from research, to diagnostics and therapeutics, it has the potential to single-handedly revolutionise the way healthcare is delivered in the 21st century and beyond.

With my experience as logistics coordinator for Medical Society’s conference and attending the AI in Medicine conference last year, I feel I am well equipped to help the conference team tackle the organisational and financial demands of running a large scale event, whilst demonstrating my creative flair for innovation, to propel us forward from last years’ success.

As your Conference Executive, I would:

  • Offer Practical, hands-on workshops for members to experience the technologies first-hand themselves
  • Foster Multidisciplinary discussions, for example: bringing Academic Researchers, Industry Experts, Clinicians and NHS Trust Staff (Chief Technology/Information Officers) together to explore different perspectives
  • Create a Tailored conference experience - talks and workshops encompassing a range of applications to medicine, to both reflect the diversity of MedTech and cater for our members’ diverse interests

Together, with the other members of committee and the team, I want the conference to inspire and supercharge our MedTech ambitions :)

Esther How

Hi everyone, my name is Esther How, a master's student of Digital Health and Entrepreneurship. With my background both as a pharmacist and in digital health, I aim to leverage my networks in my healthcare field to engage with the expert speakers and coordinate the sponsorship which will drive the success of the conferences. On a side note, I wish to contribute my knowledge and skills to foster collaborations and improve the technological landscape within society.

I believe by holding this position, I can play a pivotal part in steering the Medtech society towards cutting-edge innovations and solutions, thereby ultimately benefiting the members and the broader healthcare community.

Sreejana Basu

Organizing the best events and conferences for Technology in Healthcare this year is a MUST!!!

and that is why you should vote for me as an executive.

I not only bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to the committee, but my experience in building a biotech startup puts me at an added advantage.

I am sure to utilise my biotech networks, strong communication skills, and academic connections to put together the most valuable experience for those interested in healthcare and integrate technology to make a change.

My proficiency in biotech, honed through rigorous academic pursuits and hands-on experiences, positions me to contribute meaningfully to the society's mission.

Maria Deicu

As a first year medical student, I am very passionate about improving healthcare facilities for both patients and healthcare professionals to ensure the fast diagnosis of diseases so that patients have the best possible outcomes. Healthcare and technology are very strongly intertwined - it is not possible to have advances in healthcare without technology advancing to initiate and support the development of healthcare.

I am excited to have the opportunity to contribute to MedTech by liaising with expert speakers and inviting them to conferences in order to inform members of this society about exciting news and research in Biomedicine, Technology, and Enterprise and how these areas overlap.

Being a very organised person with a meticulous eye for detail, I think that my skills align perfectly with coordinating logistics, planning and timetabling conference days to ensure a smooth running of events so that other members of this society can take the most from this event.

Pritika Garodia

I am committed to educating my peers about the latest developments in healthcare technology, fostering collaborations with industry professionals, and advocating for the health and well-being of our college community. This position aligns with my aspirations to develop leadership and organizational skills while making a meaningful impact on campus by creating a healthier and more informed environment for all students.
