Hello!
My name is Ioulitta Karvounis, a 3rd year Biological Sciences student on the Zoology route, and I would be honoured to fulfil the role of the welfare officer for Kinesis Magazine. I have a clear aim of fostering an inclusive, respectful and compassionate environment within the society, ensuring that all events are accessible to all students as well as addressing aspects of the society that are not as inclusive. I would greatly appreciate being the person our members can talk to if they are experiencing any difficulties or if they simply would like to discuss an issue, and I will strive to help as much as I can to the best of my ability.
Overall, I would love to be the welfare officer for Kinesis Magazine and hope you will consider me :)
I would love to pursue this role on the Kinesis committee, primarily due to my passion for the society itself. Throughout my three years at UCL, I have consistently been a part of Kinesis, actively contributing to past issues as a writer and editor, and attending social events. My current involvement extends to the fourth issue. My enthusiasm is invigorated by the pride the committee leaders take in this esteemed society, and I now aspire to be a part of maintaining such a thriving and supportive society environment in the role of Welfare Officer.
My background as a Transition Mentor and a tutor over the past couple of years has equipped me with the skills to provide effective welfare support and advice to fellow students. I have navigated situations demanding sensitivity and empathy, making me confident in my ability to address the mental, physical, and social well-being of Kinesis members. I understand that the nurturing environment created by Kinesis is what inspires new and returning writers, editors, and artists to contribute to the society, and I would be committed to ensuring that the welfare of Kinesis members remains a top priority.
