Emily Allgar

Hi my name is Emily! I am a postgraduate student studying Bioscience Entrepreneurship. I love horse riding, I have ridden since I was a child and really want to participate more in this society so I thought it would be a great idea to put myself forward for this position.

Why me for activities officer?

  • I have lived in London for 4 years, I have been riding here too for the past year so I am very familiar with all the riding opportunities there are in and around the city
  • Before moving to London, I lived in the southeast of England so I also know all the riding opportunities around there well e.g. hacking opportunities in the forests and beaches
  • I have been on committee in my previous university’s swimming society so I am very used to organising students for trips (swim meets outside of London)
  • I am an experienced horse rider! I hope I can encourage the less experienced and confident team members to have a good time
  • I participated in this years beach hack so I already have good feedback on what the other students liked and what could be improved

Thank you for taking the time to read this ☺️

Francesca De Sousa

With 15 years prior riding experience, I am very passionate about horses and the sport and want to enhance the experience of every member within the society. I'm very friendly and approachable and would be open to input from the members of the society of what could be improved. I'm currently a master's student who is very organised with excellent time management skills, having had 2 part time jobs while completing my undergraduate degree, which are mandatory for the activities officer role. If I were to be elected, I would focus on accessing more lessons so that everyone in the society is able to participate more often, in addition to setting up a system to prevent the same people booking every week and preventing others from accessing lessons. Moreover, I would endavevor to access possible volunteering opportunities within the riding centres so that people are able to spend more time with horses and learn more about caring for them. I have excellent written and verbal communication skills and would be able to make bookings for trips away, such as hacking and Ascot, with ease. I would also like to make new connections with other riding centres to find more opportunities for the members of HRC. Lastly, I would like to organise more social events with HRC such as pub quiz nights, meals out and nights out! Thank you for reading and I hope you vote for me as activities officer!
