Because NOBODY TOLD ME "BYOB - Bring your own bag" event MEANT ALCOHOLLLLDAJFKDAJF I hid my favourite tote bag in my pocket that day BRUHHH THE AMOUNT OF AURA LOSS

Anyway, I'd love to be your events officer for this academic year because I believe in...

  • How controversy is not "Is ChatGPT going to replace doctors": we're not in the KCL SU, we can host better, more engaging, and actually engaging dilemmas - because the real world is a lot less predictable than ChatGPT-5's new algorithm
  • What IS controversial are socials set at 6PM only: my functional working day ends after my last lecture of the day (on average, this is 11AM 😁😁) - this is to match people's timetables better, varied timings, hybrid options... and hopefully attract more cheeky funding by looping in more available, unsuspecting Faculty of Life Sciences students 😈😈😈
  • Reactivating my crusty dusty Linkedin profile: I promise you I will be searching through my 3rd connections until I stalk out speakers who will bring you the most brain-tickling 'wth' topic that is lowkey really interesting
  • Real debates, not Grey's Anatomy regurgitated slop: you will never catch me slacking with nothing burger debates - let's not plagiarise that one chart altering episode and translate it into 'Info Slide: A young boy's life-threatening tumour is challenged by parental consent... THW...'
  • You can always DM me for your ideas!

TLDR: vote for me for flexible, thought-provoking events with inspiring speakers + 'debate' debates

OK TY bybye

As a dedicated member, I am running for Events Officer to support and grow this society. I’m keen to reach out to insightful speakers, dedicate the time needed to plan engaging events, and bring a clear vision for how our programme can develop in the year ahead.

Proposed Events -

  • Termly socials -
    • Informal pizza debate on current bioethics topics
    • Seasonal themed events
  • Follow-up STEMATHON panel -
    • Exploring how the pharmaceutical drug market works, from negotiations to investment, with the aim of including additional representatives from NICE or MPs
  • Nuffield Council of Bioethics Q&A -
    • Insight into independent policy reviews and research
  • Medical Law Careers Talks -
    • Talks from barristers and solicitors
    • Careers guidance on making a successful application with a STEM degree
  • Society Collaborations - covering interdisciplinary topics i.e.
    • Politics and International Relations - equality of healthcare and global distribution
    • Philosophy - ethical debates

I would plan to run regular polls so that members can offer feedback on events and request topics for future events. I will work well with the current committee, and Co-Events Officer, to offer events that cater to all members.
