Sudanese Society: Welfare Officer

Without a doubt, the Sudanese society has been my favourite society. Previous committees have worked very hard to create a welcoming atmosphere and ensure a vibrant and fulfilling time during and out of events.

I want to stand for welfare officer to be able to make a positive impact on any newcomers and returners to the society. Creating a community that is accessible and comfortable for everyone is extremely important to me especially by ensuring there is a safe space for people to turn to if they are in need of any support. Undoubtedly, it has been a really difficult period for Sudanese people everywhere, so having a safe space for people to go to has been more important than ever. University is hard as it is, but I hope to provide a space of comfort and ensure a secure support system with incredible people around you. I have now had a couple months’ experience in this role and I am really excited to hopefully complete the year as your welfare officer.
