Hey everyone, I am a second year studying Classical Archaeology and Classical Civilisations, but hoping to complete a masters in International Relations. In my first year, I was involved in the society via attending a couple of the embassy visits, but this year I am really keen to get more involved, and meet more people from different backgrounds at UCL. I am super excited to meet everyone else on the Bangkok trip, and our experiences there would be one thing I'd love to write about in the student journal! I loved reading some of the articles in last years journal, and I am all for the creation of a Circum Mundum podcast as i think that would be super fun and inclusive, particularly if people are too busy to write papers but still wish to contribute to the discussion :)
I am standing for Circum Mundum Editor-in-Chief, as I think it would be a great way to publicise the society to other areas at UCL, such as friends on my degree and UCL netball club. Not only this, my course currently only has 7 contact hours, meaning I would have plenty of time to make the International Relations society student journal the best one! I am very passionate about current world affairs, and it would also be a great learning experience for me to have the opportunity to read and write about the subject, hopefully drawing attention to current world issues. I would be very open to any contributions to the journal as it should be a place any student wishing to articulate their beliefs is able.
I am wanting to run for Circum Mundum Editor-in-Chief because I would love to be part of the IR society again for the 2nd year! Last year I was the welfare officer (while simultaneously being president of BBI), and enjoyed the experience greatly. I feel that since I already have had experience being part of a society from last year I am well qualified to be one this year and would love to contribute greatly to Circum Mundum.
Hi everyone, I’m Audrey and I’m running for Editor-in-Chief of Circum Mundum :)
I’ve always been interested in diplomacy and foreign policy, and I’ve written articles on a range of topics such as AI development, public policy and immigration. I was News Editor at Pi Media last year, so I am familiar with editing large volumes of work within tight deadlines, and I was a summer intern at Vogue, where I developed professional editing skills and published articles to a high standard.
I volunteered in China a few years ago as a primary school teacher, and I’m currently writing my dissertation about the US presidency. I am also a registered translator for TEDx. These have allowed me to experience different political climates and familiarise myself with policies in various parts of the world.
I am a strong believer in writing as a powerful way to stay informed, assert your beliefs and make a change. During COVID, I founded my own publication, uniting students from various backgrounds to engage in meaningful dialogue. I worked closely with schools around the world and reached out to NGOs for collaboration, donating all proceeds from copies sold.
As EIC, I’ll make sure to maintain the highest quality of work and ensure that a range of opinions are represented. I’ll also work with the committee to further engage writers through socials where we can discuss current affairs in a more relaxed setting.
I’d love to have your vote to become an active force driving these developments! Thank you :)
