Thavisha Jayawardana

Hey everyone! I’m a 2nd-year biomedical sciences student, and I’m really excited to be running for Vice President of the UCL Biomedical Sciences Society. I’m so thrilled that we finally have our very own society which we worked really hard to establish! This society has so much potential, and I’m eager to work alongside our President and committee to make it even more engaging, supportive, and full of opportunities for everyone.

Research and innovation are at the heart of what we do, and I’m all about making sure our members have the resources to thrive academically and professionally. I’d love to set up meaningful mentorship programs to connect you with alumni and industry professionals to give some insight into life beyond university. I’ll also work to expand internship and research opportunities, helping us all get ahead.

But it’s not just about academics—community is everything. I want our society to be a place where we celebrate our diverse backgrounds and genuinely enjoy being part of something special. Whether it’s through fun social events, networking activities, or just creating a welcoming space where friendships can grow, I’m committed to making our society feel like a second home.

I’m ready to bring energy, dedication, and fresh ideas to this role. With experience in leadership positions and time spent working in labs, I’m confident I have the organisational capability, communication skills and vision to make a difference. Thank you for considering my nomination!
