Welcome to the UCL Biomedical Sciences Society — a community for Biomed students to meet new people, explore where their degree could take them and make the most of their time at UCL! 💙🩵
Whether you’re set on a future in research, curious about industry, considering a completely different career or still have absolutely no idea what you want to do (very normal), we’re here to help you explore your options.
And of course, we’re here for the fun stuff too.
Founded in 2023, we’ve grown from around 70 to over 230 members in just one year, and this year we’re going even bigger.

Biomed can take you in so many directions — from the lab to industry and beyond.
Our members are interested in careers across science, healthcare and research, as well as consulting, finance and other industries, so our careers events are designed to help you explore the different paths open to you.
Expect:🗣️ Internship & Careers Panels — hear directly from students who have secured internships and experience across different industries.
🏢 Industry Events — meet companies, learn what working there is actually like and discover internships and graduate opportunities.
🤝 Networking Sessions — speak directly with professionals and ask the questions you actually want answered.
📝 Career Workshops — practical sessions to help with applications, CVs and professional skills.
- 📚 Surviving Biomed Together 🫂
Because sometimes you just need advice from someone who has already been through it.
💡 Our Academic Support Series will include peer-led exam preparation, module-selection sessions and advice on navigating your academic pathway.
👨👩👧👦 We also run Biomed Families, our peer-mentoring scheme that connects younger students with older Biomed students who can share advice on academics, university life and everything in between.
- 🎉 And Obviously… The Socials🕺
We want Biomed to feel like a community, not just a course.
Throughout the year, expect Welcome Week events, welfare socials, games nights, Christmas celebrations, collaborations with other societies and plenty more.
This year, we’re also introducing our Returners’ Party 🍻🕺 — a new Welcome Week social just for Year 2 and Year 3 students, giving returning Biomed students the chance to catch up, meet new people and kick off the year together.
And then there’s our biggest event of the year…
🚢 The Biomed Boat Ball
Our flagship end-of-year celebration brings together 250+ students from UCL, King’s College London and Imperial College London for a night on the Thames.
